Mission Statement
CMS 2017-2018 Course Selection Process

CMS is beginning the 2017-2018 course selection process for current 7th and 8th grade students as well as for 6th grade students who will attend CMS next year. The course selection process allows students to pick their courses for the upcoming school year.

One piece of this process centers on creating a wide variety of elective courses for middle school students to take. Combs Middle School students will have several exciting new elective course options to choose from during the 2017-2018 school year. These courses include:

  • Coding Graphic Design
  • Introduction to Medical Professions Leadership Development
  • Photography TV/Film Production
  • Weight Training Teens 'n Teaching

The addition of these elective courses to our current offerings allows the middle school the opportunity to expand the options that students have to explore future careers and interests. These elective offerings will allow CMS to develop a pathway to current courses CHS offers.

Course selection for the 2017-2018 school year kicks off the week of February 6 for all incoming 7th and 8th grade students. View the documents below to learn more about these electives and other offerings and to find out more about registration.

CMS is excited to assist students and their families with their planning for the upcoming school year!

To our parents we say

Thank you for your support in helping your child reach his or her academic potential. Your encouragement and involvement will make all the difference in how your student perceives his or her middle school years. Together, working as a team, we can help your child learn, succeed, and achieve!

A Message from Our Principal

Welcome to Combs Middle School!

Each day CMS works to instill within its students the desire to be life-long learners and socially responsible citizens. More specifically, the middle school community strives daily for our Cougars to possess a desire to learn at high levels while treating one another with dignity and respect.

Students center their focus on their learning using the following three important words - record, retain, and recall.

  • Record information in their notes accurately and completely so that it may be understood.
  • Retain information in their long-term memory by incorporating the strategies of being prepared for class, completing/producing high quality work, participating in class, asking questions, studying daily, and seeking help when needed.
  • Recall information from their brain to use in various settings in order to demonstrate the ability to apply, comprehend, analyze, synthesize, and evaluate what they have learned.

CMS places an importance on patriotic civics for its students. The school community works to grow in this manner through the living of the six Character Counts traits of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.

As students and teachers build relationships with one another to create an environment in which our school community is proud, the words of our school pledge remain a point of focus. “Today I will do more than I have to do; I will treat others as I want to be treated, and I will become a better person.”

Your children have the opportunity throughout this school year to grow academically, socially, and personally. Their future success stories and accomplishments are a direct reflection of the amazing parents, relatives, and friends that they have who support them and encourage them every day.
