Involved Students/Clubs & Activities
Teenagers

There are many opportunities for our students to get involved at J.O. Combs Middle School. A few of our organizations are discussed below:

Clubs

Aerospace Club

Aerospace club meets once a week to learn how to live successfully on Phobos, a moon of Mars, for up to ten years. Student groups work together to complete assignments through online research and use the research to create a model, tri-fold board, and research binder. In February, students take their completed model, tri-fold board, and research binder to ASU Poly to compete in the Honeywell Fiesta Bowl Aerospace Challenge against students from across the valley.

Journalism Club

Journalism club is a newly formed club responsible for producing and distributing our school newspaper, The Cougar Chronicle. Open to all students who have a desire to meet new people, love to write, and want to be a part of something special.

National Junior Honor Society (NJHS)

Students received a congratulations letter indicating that we selected them to be members of Combs National Junior Honor Society! We expect the students to uphold all visions and missions of our school, continue receiving high grades on quarter ending reports, as well as display exemplary character, leadership, citizenship, and service.

Social Studies Club

Social Studies club meets after school offering students an opportunity to discuss with each other history, civics, and current events. Social Studies club at CMS is open to all 7th and 8th graders. Social Studies club plans activities to build a better understanding of American and world history. Eighth grade honors student have the opportunity to study and practice for We the People.

Student Council

Student Council helps share students’ ideas, interests, and concerns with teachers and school principals. They often help raise funds for school-wide activities including community service and social events throughout the year. Student Council is made up of elected representatives from grades six through eight and meets on a regular basis each Monday after school until 4:30 p.m. (unless students are notified otherwise).
